LIVE! from Wales, WI

I now come to you from my very own humble apartment, located a stone's throw away from my job, enabling me to have more time for things such as blogging (you know, the important things in life...)
Despite a major setback on Saturday due to a snow storm in combination with an emergency trip to the pediatrician, Tom and I managed to move all of our shit in before the weekend officially ended, and without much help from anyone. The thousands of dollars in furniture that we purchased makes the place look rather nice and downplays the overkill of 70's fixtures, so at least our money went towards the greater good of the world. Besides the lack of any sort of decorations or wall art, we're pretty much all set here. We may still be in the "honeymoon" phase of living together, but we're both completely enjoying coming home to each other and sharing the parenting responsibilities. I love having my own place again (my mother and I cannot co-exist in the same house), and I love being able to provide Aiden a semi-normal home environment. Plus, our new king size bed is a pretty nice perk to the whole situation. (Did I mention we spent thousands of dollars?)

Aiden started daycare yesterday which ended up being way more traumatic for me than it was for him. He was smiling at all the nice ladies while I was scrutinizing their every move. Leaving him in the hands of total strangers who were also caring for however many other babies wasn't one of my favorite moments. Rest assured, I visited for a half an hour during my lunch break and called one other time just to check in. His report came back great at the end of the day, and my bank account came back with a huge dent in it. Welcome to parenthood, I guess. They claim that this process of leaving my child in a facility gets easier, but I just don't see how that's possible. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays are pretty much going to be hell on a weekly basis from now on.

I think I'll go finish getting ready for the exciting work day ahead so I can make a pit-stop at Panera for a cinnamon bagel. Who would've thought, though - a spare moment for not only blogging, but for eating as well.

Pictures to be posted upon rescuing of my camera battery.

Welcome to the 21st Century

I decided awhile ago that I was "behind the times" and needed to convert my LJ experience to a less formal and more trendy platform - so here I am, with my very own blog.

Unfortunately Aiden has made extended computer usage a thing of the past, so I'm stuck at 4:30 am trying to create this thing while he's still passed out in his crib. Mind you, I should be using this time to be passed out as well, and I will regret my poor decision in choosing not to. Sleep is a hot commodity yet here I am, blogging. Apparently being a sleep deprived mom doesn't change a person as much as I thought it would.

Congratulations, self. Mission Blog Creation: Accomplished.
