The List

We're done searching for apartments. We're both tired of it, we've seen all we need to see, and we have two solid options.

Here's the magical pros and cons list.

Stone Creek Apartment
GOOD
- Cathedral ceilings make it seem very open
- Two bathrooms so Aiden can have a monkey bathroom
- Pantry in kitchen
- Tons of storage
- Both rooms have walk-in-closets
- Nobody above us
- Garage!
- Extra den area (however it's NOT closed off)
- Can paint, but have to paint it back before we leave
- Community pool
- Cheap utilities
- Perfect location
BAD
- Only two bedrooms, no room to grow which would mean having to move if we need more room
- Bedrooms are on the smaller side
- No yard
- Feels like an apartment
- Dining room has carpet (not good with a baby)
-Rent is more expensive

Lower Unit Townhouse in Waukesha

GOOD
- Three great sized bedrooms provides room for Tom to play games in, and expansion area if necessary
- Nice layout
- Large dining room with hardwood floors
- Felt very home-y
- Great deck that we could actually put a table and chairs on
- Yard for Aiden
- Good storage
- Nice closets
- Walking distance to the park
- Priced well
- Ability to paint
- 9ft ceilings
- Cheaper than Stone Creek by about $100
BAD
- People living above us
- No pantry
- No covered parking
- Driveway is VERY steep and we are responsible for snow removal
- Utilities would be a bit more costly
- We aren't huge fans of ghetto downtown Waukesha

So, it's that time again.....
(and feel free to leave comments!)

  1. where is the 2nd one? I know the "ghetto-ist" of the ghetto of waukesha and theres only one area i would say is iffy for kids and that would change my vote..but for now Id say the townhouse.

  2. The 2nd one is on Randall St. right by Horeb Park. I wouldn't say it's a horrible area, but the majority of Waukesha is going pretty downhill, especially around the downtown area.

  3. True. What happened with the Lodge? Stonecreek would be nice too with the pool and no one above you, I love the Pebble Valley area but if you are planning on growing there it might not be best.

  4. I think we ruled out the Lodge finally. Stone Creek is cheaper and offers more of the amenities we want. Pool is a huge bonus, and I like that Pebbly Valley is so close to the highway, too. But yeah - besides a small "den" which isn't even closed off, there's not any extra space. I already feel bad for moving Aiden around so much, so if we outgrow Stone Creek I'll feel even worse when we have to move again.

And yes, no people above us was like #1 on our list of MUST HAVES. I hate hearing every step they take.
